I bought this on kindle can not even put it on my kindle,(bought a kindle just for this) I have to read it on my PC. And every time I use it at school I have to uninstall it and reinstall it, and every time i do that it creates a new profile in kindle, that i have to delete. because of security settings at my polytechnic. Every-time I exit my network the computer is cleared. So next time i enter in i get a new profile, this is pretty standard network security. My network admin told me he is not quite willing to turn of the network security for kindle and apparently kindle can fix all this on their end. I did talk to kindle for about 45 minutes trying to clear this up. they told me i need to cal back when at school together with my network admin. He said no did not want to waste his time nothing he could do without getting into trouble. So this is my s...t revue and the reason for it. If kindle manages to sort something out i might change it. They were very sympathetic for my problem. but in this case sympathy don't really help.

Hal Leonard Bass Method-Complete Edition: Books 1, 2 and 3

I have been teaching individual bass and guitar lessons for 10 years now after having taught music (band and choir) in the public school system. I'm always on the lookout for better/more thorough/more complete method books to help my students achieve their goals. I have found this method to be very thorough without being boring. The cd accompaniment tracks are great and I use them as the "test"....the students must play along with the track successfully before moving on. If you are considering this book, you are making a good choice.

Great step-by-step learning experince!

I enjoy playing drums, but when a nice bass showed up at the local pawn shop, i splurged. Afterwards, I checked out a few volumes by the "names" in bass, but found them either overly complex, or overly exhaustive in information. Ed Friedland put together the "just right" package.

First off, it does NOT depend on TAB. You start with notes. And even when TAB appears far into the book, it is not necessary as you can still play in notes. And as mentioned below, you get to play "tunes" early one, even if they are very simple. Thus, you get to build a base playing along with the band on the CD.

Everything progresses cleanly. You get pictures of fingerings, diagrams of fingerings, and (early on) numbering of the fingering of notes under the notes themselves. In other words...

This is the book you want if you don't have/can't have a teacher. It won't take you all the way there by itself, but you'll cross a few county lines on the way to the big time!

I didn't want to write a "straight out of the box" review. I wanted to actually use the book first. This book was bought back in Dec. 2010 and it is now the end of July 2011. This is by far the BEST beginner book I've seen. What I like most about the method is the fact that although it does teach you tabs, which come later in the book, it teaches you to read music. So, by the time you get to the tabs section, you really (I don't) use them. The 3 cd's that come with the book are invaluable. They really help you with your progress. I use them as a test to move on to the next level. As a side note, I'm in my early 50's and have no desire to be a rock star. I just took the bass up as a hobby. Be that as it may, whatever your goal, you can do a lot worse than this bass method book! I also HIGHLY recommend the use of stretching exercises before and after playing. You don't want to get carpal tunnel syndrome. There are some great exercises to be found on you tube. I hope this was helpful, enjoy.

Not the best

This is a Surgical Technologist text book that many schools use. It's a decent book but I find it contradictory in many areas. Each chapter starts with and introduction explaining what is in the chapter. Then when you get to each section, it contradicts the material in the introduction which my entire ST class finds very confusing.

Excellent introduction to surgical technology!

This book is an excellent introduction to various aspects of the many different surgeries and procedures in use, such as anatomy, instrumentation, and OR duties. It also contains a solid introduction to ethics. Overall, a useful book for the budding medical student, or for anyone interested in surgery.

Loaded with inaccuracies

I find the Fuller text have to have a great many error in it. The teacher resource of Powerpoints will have a title on a slide and show a picture of something entirely different. For example; there is a slide titled "ventriculo peritoneal shunt" and shows a cross section of a lumbar spine. On the next page it says "ventriculo peritoneal and ventriculo ARTERIAL (rather than atrial). Another example is where it defines both systole and diastole as the contraction of the heart. It can be quite confusing for students It was clear that this book was written by a circulating nurse. As certification is the ultimate goal, I prefer and recommend the AST book. It is now in the 4th edition and available electronically. Since it's AST it is written for the certification exam. I have thoroughly revied both and AST's is far superior in my opinion.

In order to answer these questions, Training and Practice for Modern Day Archaeologists explores a relatively new development in archaeology and historical preservation: new approaches to archeological and heritage education and training that accommodate globalization and the realities of the 21st century worldwide. The volume examines how the government, universities, and private sector meet, albeit not always, the educational and practical needs of practicing archaeologists today.

About the Author

John H. Jameson is Senior Archaeologist and Public Interpretation/Outreach Lead, Southeast Archaeological Center, National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior. He has long worked to improve the quality of programs and�interdisciplinary�training in the public interpretation of archaeological and cultural heritage. In 2005, he was awarded the Sequoia Award for long-term contributions to education and interpretation by the U.S. National Park Service. He serves as Vice President of the International Committee on Interpretation and Presentation of Cultural Heritage Sites (ICIP), International Committee on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).

James Eogan MA is a Senior Archaeologist at the National Roads Authority in Ireland. He is former Vice Chairman and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland.

What is worth saving of the book is the general ideas it gives about self-esteem, and how to reveal and be comfortable with our inner sense and our way of being phisically and emotionaly

Swami Tyagananda's clarity and excellent metaphors led me to a deeper understanding of Karma Yoga and strengthened my desire to practice this method of awakening. You can feel when somebody knows about, and practices what they are writing about, it imprints so much more deeply.
