About the Author
R. C. Sproul (Drs, Free University of Amsterdam) is founder and chairman of Ligonier Ministries. He has written more than sixty books, including The Holiness of God, Faith Alone, Scripture Alone, Chosen by God, What Is Reformed Theology?, The Glory of Christ, The Mystery of the Holy Spirit, and Getting the Gospel Right. He is also general editor of The Reformation Study Bible, which has been published with the New King James Version and the English Standard Version. Dr. Sproul was professor of systematic theology and apologetics at Knox Theological Seminary in Fort Lauderdale until 2004 and, before that, taught at Reformed Theological Seminary. He serves as senior minister of preaching and teaching at Saint Andrew's Chapel, Sanford, Florida, and teaches on the national daily radio program Renewing Your Mind.

It has been said that America has lost her soul. Well this book will help her get it back. RC Sproul does it again as he knows how to take the "cookies" and put them down on the lower shelf within easy grasp. Taking on a difficult, yet vitally important doctrine, the author weaves a tapestry concerning divine providence which is woven together by sound biblical teaching and tender personal insight.The reader will come to understand that nothing happens by chance or coincidence since God is in control of every person and particle in the universe. When questions arise concerning events such as the chaos in Kosovo or the crisis in Columbine, this book which addresses a basic principle concerning the nature of God and His goveranace over humanity will be tremendously helpful. God does indeed control the universe and promises that all things will work together for the good of His people.The basic theistic belief that God foreordains and foreknows whatsoever comes to pass will prove to be challenging, while at the same time, extremely comforting.This tome will prove to be intense enough for the most profound philosopher while simple enough for the average lay person. Whoever chooses to read this book will find that their time has been well spent.

A Solid and Systematic Look at the Providence of God

R.C. Sproul's book The Invisible Hand is one of the most practical studies on the providence of God I've read. He doesn't rush through the foundational principles and consistently and clearly defines his terms. This book is useful because it communicates with the reader at a number of levels - new believer, maturing saint, as well as the seasoned Christian warrior.

Using Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." as his foundational verse, he asks the probing question, "Do all things really work for good?" From that point, Sproul carefully and systematically moves from chapter to chapter answering that question in a fashion that only he can. He doesn't shy away from the tough issues either. In this book, Sproul equips believers with the understanding necessary to address those arguments unbelievers commonly confront Christians with in an attempt to justify their own rebellious unbelief.

Though each chapter builds upon the previous chapters, Sproul has cleverly made sure that each chapter is nearly a subject study in itself. This book could be used as a text book as well as a daily devotional, though there is nothing casual about this subject.

Sproul makes no attempt to hide the fact that he often slips out of the theological arena in his writings and into a philosophical approach to answering tough issues. He does that in this book too, and I wish he wouldn't do that. But if he didn't, he wouldn't be R.C. Sproul. You just have to resolve to take him the way he is.

So many of the subjects Sproul covers in this book are priceless. One of my favorite chapters, and one that I find very useful, is the one entitled Providence and Prayer. He sweeps away so many of the excuses we use not to pray. Like, "Well, God knows what he is going to do anyway, why should I pray?" Sproul shows the value in drawing near to God in prayer and just how beneficial it really is for us to do so.

After reading this book many years ago, I began talking about the book, God's sovereignty and providence the next day during a noon meal with my lunch group. Before long, I realized everyone, believers and unbelievers, had stopped talking and were glued to the information in Sproul's book. Now that's powerful stuff.

I'm sure that it comes as no surprise that I highly recommend Sproul's book, The Invisible Hand. Even though I do have moments of frustration with Sproul's direction and presentation, I think it's one of those books that should be read and reread often, with an open heart and an open Bible. Just like the Bereans did with the Apostle Paul, search the scriptures daily to see whether what Sproul says is true.

SugaMegaGreens Got Rid of MOLE!!

I was pleasantly surprised. I bought the book to help assist me in changing my lifestyle and eating habits. I did the 4 day fast and ordered the supamega greens as recommended in the book. Long sorry short, I lasted 3 days on the fast and shortly after that I noticed the mole I had on my head for over 5 years disappeared. It happened over a matter of 7 days, and the mole flattened and lightened and then disappeared. I am certain this cleanse did the job, and I do have another mole that didn't completely disappear but it's significantly smaller and lighter. I will definitely order the cleanse again and this book is an easy read and worth the challenge.

I would have injoyed a clearer layout of the book...it kinda reminds me of Mama Queen Afua's and Dr.Llaila Afrika where you have to keep going back and forth to different sections and kinda put it in order for your self to truly get clarity..However, it was cool to do the cleanse..You must start early enuff to get everything in for the day-or you'll end up with a half a gal green drink left when its time to do your last meal/juice for the eve.And its not cheap ingredients , so i wasn't willing to pour it out...so a couple x's we missed out on the evening juice... In the beginning the drink was like ugghh ( we purchased from Supa Nova website)..but before you know it, your body is like bring it on! Where it's at! We kept it cold and it was great for those hot dayz...didn't have many/enuff bowel movements though...We are plant based eaters for the past ten years, however, we have been reverting back to the left with too much processed junk food the past year +...I think the cleanse is good for beginners to get there feet wet..we personally need something more thorough...I still would recommend it.. Good to experience the combo of green food/herbs for the pallet and body. Peace and Vitality!

About the Author
Craig Wilson is an entrepreneur, consultant, author, and coach. He has founded three businesses, just recently selling the theater production company he and his wife founded in 1990. He is a leading authority on loyalty, brand development, and direct marketing and counts some of the world’s most iconic brands in his listing of experience including Kiehl’s, Patagonia, Seventh Generation, prAna Living, Burton Snowboards, and Revolution Living, among others. He’s a three-time NCAA National Champion coach and a passionate observer of human behavior.

Over the past decade Craig has studied the direct marketing businesses that create the most passionate, loyal customers and holds a firm belief creating advocacy is possible anywhere. Craig began his career as an NCAA Division One Sailing Coach. Winning his first National Championship was the springboard to understanding what motivates people’s actions. He launched a theater production company in 1990, wrote and produced a highly successful, interpersonal skills based seminar called Playing With Fire, and while with Patagonia, Craig developed their direct business strategy based on a seminal consumer behavior study, forming the first truly multi-channel marketing organization, growing the direct channel from $2M to $100M over a six-year period.

Craig is a sought after speaker and has lectured on the topic of loyalty and advocacy as the basic tenet of branding strategy at the University of Southern California, the University of California, and Pepperdine University's Graziadio Graduate School of Business. He’s the co-author of "Creating Advocates," a peer reviewed study on why consumers become fans of brands. The Compass and the Nail is his first book.

Wonky but Smart

Patagonia is a revered brand not only for its products, but also for its purpose-driven environmental ways. The brand has cultivated a deeply loyal following. Craig Wilson spent eight years at Patagonia in various upper-level marketing roles and he shares smart thinking in this book.

His various “Band Ecosystem” diagrams describing how to forge customer loyalty the Patagonia way are too wonky for this marketer to understand enough to act upon.

However, this one money quote from the book is sticking with me and causing me to refocus my marketing efforts: “Share your beliefs. Demonstrate how they integrate into your product, design, and presentation. Communicate what inspires your particular esthetic. Those that believe what you believe will become part of your tribe.“

By voicing its strong point of view, Patagonia is able to attract like-minded customers that aren’t tied to functional marketing triggers of price, promotion, or distribution. Instead, Patagonia endears itself to customers through emotional triggers. Mine this book for some solid nuggets on how to create customer loyalty the Patagonia way.

Excellent book, so many great ideas, not to mention dozens of great book and article references...the only problem was trying to highlight the 'important' sections...I found myself highlighting so much that it was defeating the purpose. Also enjoyed the phylosophy and psychology quotes throughout the book, it made for a more entertaining read than most 'business' books.

A 21st Century Masterpiece!

I read this quote recently and it absolutely reminded me of Craig’s book: "…..because if you want the benefits of something in life, you have to also want the costs."

WARNING: Understanding, implementing, and scaling the frameworks from this book is not for the lazy, unthoughtful, or uncommitted. The majority of things written today are for those who have a gnats 5secs of an attention span. If that is you, this book is NOT for you. You will not get a “5 top steps to success” or a “here is the secret” tirade. Those types of books are gimmicks, spending 200pgs pontificating about observations which are unscientific, lack empirical evidence, and whose assumptions and assertions are suspect at best. Though reading those types of books may make you believe you’re an overnight Wizard of Oz, they do much more harm than good.

On the other hand, if you are looking to ensure your path to success, with a humble bit of dedicated time and reflection, Craig’s book IS FOR YOU. Craig clearly wrote this book because he cares about humanity and its future (as his personal perspectives are shared toward the end of the book). He is interested in building leaders and empowering those who are willing to put in the work.

For the past 15yrs I have been steeped in helping bring structural change to nations across the world socially, politically, and economically. On the back of my experience in 50+ countries, I can honestly say the paradigms and practices Craig reveals (when implemented correctly) do bring thoughtful, proactive, and principled change. As he alludes to in his book, there are no easy answers to structural reform of any kind in the complex world we live today. But there is a pathway to achieving clear, actionable, implementable and scalable solutions. Craig’s methodology does just this – which is the first of its kind that I have seen, ever.

This is a serious, well thought out, practical roadmap for 21st Century solution-building. Done correctly, Craig's methodology will challenge your assumptions and stretch your brain about everything, provide a principled way to get your team/vision/company/economy back on a strategic and principled course, all while making the world a better place.

Handles both road vehicles and tracked vehicles

The book covers dynamics of ground vehicles over hard surfaces and unprepared terrain - mechanics of vehicle-terrain interactions, terramechanics. Tracked vehicles such as a military tank or a bulldozer that is propelled by tracks instead of pneumatic tires are also covered in detail in this book. There is also attention to air-cushion vehicles (hovercrafts). However, the guided ground vehicles which are constrained to move along a fixed path, such as railway vehicles and tracked levitated vehicles are not covered in this book.

There is a very good chapter on the mechanics of pneumatic tires, which has both theoretical and practical information. Attention is also given to performance of tires on wet surfaces. This issue is frequently overlooked by the other vehicle dynamics books; however, the behavior of tires on wet surfaces is of considerable interest from a safety point of view, as many accidents occur on slippery roads. The tire is also analyzed as both spring and a damper. There are useful graphs and tables in this chapter, as well as throughout the whole book. The table of damping coefficient of tires shows that the damping coefficient of tire drops with increase of the inflation pressure.

Mechanics of vehicle-terrain interactions studies distribution of stresses in the terrain under vehicular loads, empirical methods for predicting off-road vehicle performance, a computer-aided method for evaluating the performance of vehicles with flexible tracks, and so on.

Performance characteristics are covered separately for road and off-road vehicles. For the road vehicles, the author analyzes equation of motion and maximum tractive effort, aerodynamic forces and moments, vehicle power plant and transmission characteristics, prediction of vehicle performance, operating fuel economy, engine and transmission matching and braking performance. For off-road vehicles, the author examines drawbar performance, fuel economy of cross-country operations, transport productivity and efficiency, mobility map and mobility profile, selection of vehicle configurations for off-road operations.

Handling characteristics of road vehicles and steering of tracked vehicles are also separately analyzed.

There is a very good chapter on vehicle ride characteristics and human response to vibration.

I also recommend "Race Car Vehicle Dynamics" by William F. Milliken and Douglas L. Milliken, which is also a good compromise between theoretical and practical information.

A great introductions to the role of psychology in marketing

I bought this book as it just came out in Sweden. From the first pages I was hooked and has since finishing it often returned for brief and insightful reminders. Nathalie writes in a way that makes it easy to get right to the core on each topic. As an academic I love the fact that there are references to studies and further reading all through the book. It's a must have for any one interested in the field.

Thorough, well-researched book with TONS of ideas

I read this book a few months ago, and I still have it sitting right on my desk, filled with bookmarks of places I want to re-visit, re-think, and re-implement in my own marketing. This book is just so full of fantastic information that I couldn't digest it all at one time.

The endnotes alone are worth the price of the book. I've read some other books that mainly source secondary resources like blog articles that rehash other primary sources. Nathalie Nahai has actually done an amazing amount of primary research, and the endnotes are filled with all kinds of studies on a huge breadth of topics.

Still, it doesn't read like a dry, academic tome. It's brilliant, deep stuff, but it isn't anything that a person of average intelligence would struggle to understand.

Psych and marketing!

I am a student who is very much interested in digital marketing. I heard about Nathalie's book while I was studying abroad in the UK, but I didn't really pay attention/purchase it until I came back to the states. I fully regret the fact that I didn't pick up the book while abroad because this has a lot of useful info. Nathalie includes a lot of interesting real case studies, plus the book is filled with colors.. I love colors! Haha, that might make this book interesting for those who get board reading, right?

What I love about this book is how Nathalie draws from her background of psychology with additional support in neuroscience and behavioral economics to create awareness of how marketing has changed from the local to global context. She has made this a very easy read and I recommend it digital marketing beginners/those who have little to no knowledge in this industry. Also it might be useful for those who are planning to open their own website or those who want to update.

I am a self studying Korean learner. I very much recommend this book as a stepping stone tool, especially if you have already grasped the Hangul alphabet and can tie it in with making some words as there are no Romanizations available or any CD that you can follow and learn along with. I still purchased this more as a second step for reading and learning a variety of words. Some of the sections in book include: personal info, family, health, everyday activities, hobbies, money numbers calendar clothes colors foods, home school job travel entertainment nature, shopping travel and descriptions. I also bought McGraw-Hill's Korean Illustrated Dictionary http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0071769005/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i04?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which does have Romanizations (if you are looking for a good beginners dictionary-with CD) as a 1st dictionary and Word by Word for the 2nd one. Hope this helps

As a retired ESOL teacher, I can assure you this is "the" book for beginners. Why because it has pictures. Think of your kitchen. Now try and label every appliance and tool in it. Give each item etc. a number. Then write the English and the corresponding foregien language next to it. An awesome task. That's what this book does and it give an incredible amount of practical vocabulary for everyday life skills not just the kitchen. Try it you'll love it! And it is worth every penny of the price. English/Spanish, English/Russian, English/Chinese and on and on!

All the books in this series are excellent

I recommend all the books in this series for beginning-level English learners. This picture dictionary is particularly useful if the student is an absolute beginner and has no English literacy whatsoever. There is no need to purchase it new, however, as it is solely a dictionary. It might not be entirely helpful if you were to use it in a very rural setting or a developing country since the pictures represent things most found in cities or developed countries.
